# Step by Step - How to set-up Improve - For Administrators

${color}[#24394f](We recommend you take the following steps when setting up your Improve activity).


**Step 1 - Change terminology**

* Consider the terminology you use, for example, module titles.  Read the other preferences section in this article [Understanding the preferences page](/en/article/understanding-the-preferences-page-ixggmj/) to amend your module name.

**Step 2 - Disable roles**


* In Improve you have participants and readers roles.  Read the permission preferences by role section in this article if you want to disable a role [Understanding the preferences page](/en/article/understanding-the-preferences-page-ixggmj/) For example, if you don't want to use reader you can turn these roles off on this preferences page.

**Step 3 - Enable and disable tags**


* You may want to use tags to add data labels to your improvement activity. This for example can be useful to tag areas of improvement to enable to filter your data reports. **Step 4  - Using groups**


* You may want to use groups to help categorise your data.  Read this article to find out how to do this [Understanding how to create groups](/en/article/understanding-how-to-create-groups-5pssk0/).

**Step 5 - Set-up third-party organisations**

* You may have purchased a licence that allows you to add users from outside the organisation.  For example, from a subcontractor.  Read this article to help you set-up third-party organisations

The advantage  of using third-party organisation is to allow leads in your subcontractors to see their own control page as well as it helps the system limited what users can be invited into improvement plan activity.

**Step 6 - Set-up departments**

* Consider allowing your department heads to take control of their department improvement plans.  The advantage  of using departments is to allow heads to see their own control page. **Step 9 - Schedule your improvement activity using your Quality Calendar**

* Consider what your development cycle looks like.  For example, you may want schedule to create a new plan or complete a summary of an existing plan . Read this article to find out more
